Italy?? AGAIN?!?!
Hello, again, Blogonauts!
A new blog name, a new blog site, but the same quizzical outlook. Welcome to Jaunticles!
Yes, I'm off again, on a rather hastily arranged journey across portions of northern Italy. On Tuesday morning, I will arrive in Venice and immediately take a train to Padova (which Shakespeare mistakenly called Padua, to the unending frustration of cartographers and confusion among English-speaking tourists).

Then for the following 2 weeks, my plans and the Italian railway system will carry me to 5 historic towns in the Veneto and Lombardy regions, sites filled with remnants of the Roman Empire, the Middle Ages, the Renaissance, and all manner of modern civilization and mayhem.

Perhaps you have chased me around the globe for the last 14 years. Or, to my slack-jawed surprise, you may be new to these portrayals and ponderings. (I am attempting to re-load all the prior entries here so that both you and I can relive past experiences and cringe at my inaccuracies.)
All of those earlier travel-focused sites have closed or deteriorated over time. This site, Blogger, is not travel specific, but it has remained impressively consistent for more than 20 years. If you have followed earlier iterations of my travel musings, you can expect notices of updated entries in your email. However, if emails have overwhelmed your life, a simple request will remove you from the mailing list. Or, for newbies, if you would like to add your name, simply let me know.
To close, allow me a word about this new site: My wanderings are sporadic, and never last longer than a few weeks. But while I'm out and about, I enjoy sharing the parts I find interesting on these jaunts, via some scribbles & pics.
And thus, the new name: Jaunticles: Articles About Episodic Jaunts
The world holds incalculable wonders & curiosities. Nature, geography, history, food, cultures...all help to differentiate destinations. When a visitor conveys their unique perspective, they may help readers to see the world's diversity more clearly.
And you're invited to come along to share what bits I can glean during my particular jaunts.
Blog to you later!

Thanks for including me, sounds like fun. Herb
